Taiwanese steam coal imports decreased to 4.7m tonnes in February, down 6.2% m-o-m and down 5.6% y-o-y. Australian supplies 2.3m tonnes decreased to 22% m-o-m and down 19.2% y-o-y. Indonesian supplies declined to 880KT, down 23.4% m-o-m and down 27.4% y-o-y. Imports from Russia declined to 580KT, down 27.2% m-o-m and down 20% y-o-y. Taiwanese economy expanded by 3% in Q118

Driven by strong exports and private consumption, Taiwan’s economy expanded 3.04 % in the first quarter on a y-o-y basis, according to an estimate from the National Statistics Office. The result beat an earlier forecast of 2.77 percent made by the same agency in February. Exports of goods and services grew by 6.03 percent, mainly driven by the strong demand for electronic components and machinery. Imports also increased by 5.61 percent.
