Chinese power generation hit all-time high at 640TWh in July

Chinese power generation jumped to an all-time high at 640TWh in July, up 15.3% m-o-m and up 5.8% y-o-y.  Thermal power generation, mostly coal-fired, reached all time high level at 453.5TWh, up 15.1% m-o-m and up 4.3% y-o-y. Similarly, hydro generation increased to an all time high, at 129.1TWh, up 21.2% m-o-m and up 6% y-o-y.

Nuclear generation also increased to all-time high, at 26.4TWh, up 11.4% m-o-m and up 14.3% y-o-y.

Power generation from wind increased to 23.3TWh, up 2.2% m-o-m and up 29.4% y-o-y. Solar generation totalled 7.7TWh, down 2.5% m-o-m but still was 38.2% higher y-o-y.

Chinese power output increased top 3,837TWh over Jan.-July period, up 7.8% y-o-y. Thermal power generation jumped to 2,845TWh, up 7.3% y-o-y. Hydro generation increased to 590.1TWh, up 3.5% y-o-y. Nuclear output increased to 156.4TWh, up 12.9% y-o-y. Power generation from wind and solar increased to 194.8TWh and 50.4TWh respectively, up 23% and up 20% y-o-y.
