Italian power generation reached 22.8TWh in July, up 7.4% m-o-m but still was 2.2% lower y-o-y. Coal-fired generation increased to 1.7TWh, up 56.8% m-o-m and up 2.1% y-o-y. Gas-fired generation jumped to 10.2TWh, up 29.6% m-o-m, although still was 5.8% lower y-o-y. Oil-fired generation fell to 1.5TWh, down 0.6% m-o-m and down 17.9% y-o-y.
Hydro power generation fell to 5TWh in July, down 16% m-o-m but still was 13.2% higher y-o-y. Solar generation fell to 2.6TWh, down 3.5% m-o-m and down 10.7% y-o-y. Wind generation totalled 1.1TWh, down 12.6% m-o-m but still was 23% higher y-o-y.
Italian power generation fell to 143TWh over the first 7 months of the year, down 1.7% y-o-y. Coal-fired generation plummeted to 10TWh, down 18.6% y-o-y. Gas-fired generation decreased to 61.9TWh, down 8.8% y-o-y. Oil-fired power output eroded to 10.6TWh, down 16.2% y-o-y.
Hydro and wind generation increased to 30.5TWh and 10TWh respectively, up 28.8% and 31.6% y-o-y. However, solar generation fell to 15.1TWh, down 9.9% y-o-y.
