Indian coal production increased to 54.9Mt in October, up 4% y-o-y

Indian coal production increased to 54.9m tonnes in October, up 15.8% m-o-m and up 4% y-o-y. Coal India production increased to 46.1m tonnes, up 19% m-o-m and up 6% y-o-y. Coal production by small independent miners increased to 4.7m tonnes, up 11.9% m-o-m and up 2.6% y-o-y. On the other hand, coal output by India’s second largest state-owned coal producer, SCCL, declined to 4m tonnes, down 11% m-o-m and down 14% y-o-y.

Indian coal output increased to 551.6m tonnes over the first 10 months of the year, up 20m tonnes or 3.8% y-o-y. Coal India produced 454.4m tonnes, up 18m tonnes or 4.1% y-o-y. SCCL’s coal output also increased to 50.8m tonnes, up 2.7m tonnes or 5.7% y-o-y. On the other hand, coal production by other independent coal producers declined to 44.8m tonnes, down 2.5m tonnes or 5.3% y-o-y.
