Ukrainian steam coal imports increased to 820KT in September, up 10.6% m-o-m and up 107.2% y-o-y. Russian deliveries totalled 520KT, down 10.7% m-o-m but still were 114% higher y-o-y. South African deliveries increased to 190KT, up from 70KT supplied in August and up from 70KT delivered in September 2016. Imports from the US increased to 100KT, up 33% m-o-m and up 41% y-o-y.
Ukraine imported 4.2m tonnes of steam coal over the first 9 months of the year, up 1.5m tonnes or 54.5% y-o-y. Russian supplies increased to 3.1m tonnes, up 1.5m tonnes or 94.7% y-o-y. Supplies from the US increased to 550KT, up 100KT or 22.9% y-o-y. On the other hand, South African deliveries decreased to 340KT, down 290KT or 45.9% y-o-y.
