Vietnamese steam coal imports increased to 1.3m tonnes in October, up 23.3% m-o-m and up 7.5% y-o-y. Indonesian deliveries declined by 10.5% m-o-m to 510KT, although still were 120% higher y-o-y. Australian supplies totalled 230KT, up 37.8% m-o-m but still were 54.6% lower y-o-y. Imports from Russia totalled 210KT, up 3.7% m-o-m but still were 21% lower y-o-y. Chinese deliveries increased to 150KT, up from 60KT in September and up from 80KT in October last year.
Vietnam imported 11.7m tonnes over the first 10 months of the year, down 150KT or 1.2% y-o-y. Imports from Indonesia increased to 4.8m tonnes, up 2.3m tonnes or 111% y-o-y. On the other hand, Australian deliveries declined to 2.9m tonnes, down 980KT or 25.4% y-o-y. Russian supplies decreased to 1.8m tonnes, down 1.7m tonnes or 48.2% y-o-y. Imports from China were also down to 640KT, down 800KT or 55% y-o-y.
