Colombian steam coal exports totalled 7m tonnes in October, up 10.7% m-o-m but still were 0.8% lower y-o-y. This takes the coal shipments to 70.6m tonnes over the first 10 months of the year, down 1.8m tonnes or 2.4% y-o-y.
Exports to the largest European destination, the Netherlands, declined to 770KT , down 5.5% m-o-m and down 38.4% y-o-y. This takes the exports to the Netherlands to 8.3m tonnes over the Jan.-October period, down 6.2m tonnes or 42.7% y-o-y.
On the other hand, coal shipments to the largest MED destination, Turkey, increased to the highest level since September 2016, at 2m tonnes, up 20.3% m-o-m and up 61.8% y-o-y. Exports to Turkey increased to 14.3m tonnes, up 1m tonnes or 7.5% y-o-y.
