South Korean steam coal imports increased to 11.2m tonnes in September, up 7.4% m-o-m and up 19.2% y-o-y. Indonesia was the main supplier of coal to South Korea with deliveries at 4.5m tonnes, up 21.8% m-o-m and up 29.5% y-o-y. Australian supplies totalled 3m tonnes, down 9.4% m-o-m but still was 3.8% higher y-o-y. Imports from Russia declined to 1.9m tonnes, down 6.3% m-o-m and down 11.5% y-o-y.
South Korea imported 83.7m tonnes over the Jan.-September period, up 13.7m tonnes or 19.6% y-o-y. Imports from Indonesia increased to 30.9m tonnes, up 4.5m tonnes or 17.2% y-o-y. Russian supplies increased to 15m tonnes, up 2.4m tonnes or 19.2% y-o-y. On the other hand, Australian deliveries declined to 23.8m tonnes, down 1.9m tonnes or 7.4% y-o-y.
