Dutch steam coal imports increased to 2.2m tonnes in July, up 15.1% m-o-m and up 0.4% y-o-y. Russia remained the main supplier of coal to the Netherlands in July delivering just over 1m tonnes, up 42.7% m-o-m and up 34.1% y-o-y. Colombian deliveries totalled 600KT, up 22.8% m-o-m but still were 22.9% lower y-o-y. Imports from the US declined to 280KT, down 19.7% m-o-m and down 25.9% y-o-y. South Africa delivered 210KT, up from just 20KT supplied in June. No shipments from South Africas were reported in July last year.
The Netherlands imported 14.6m tonnes of coal over the Jan.-July period, down 1.5m tonnes or 9.3% y-o-y. This is mostly due to the fall in Russian supplies, which decreased to 5.6m tonnes, down 100KT or 1.8% y-o-y. Colombian deliveries also declined over the period to 4.2m tonnes over the period, down 1.6m tonnes or 27% y-o-y. Imports from the US decreased to 2.7m tonnes, down 500KT or 15.9% y-o-y. On the other hand, South African deliveries increased to 990KT, up 360KT or 56.7% y-o-y.
