Indian coal output increased in August, up 15.2% y-o-y

Indian coal production increased to 46.5m tonnes in August, up 2.6% m-o-m and up 15.2% y-o-y. Indian top coal producer, Coal India Ltd (CIL) produced 37.6m tonnes, up 2.7% m-o-m and up 16.1% y-o-y. SCCL produced 4.5m tonnes, up 2.7% m-o-m and up 7.1% y-o-y. Smaller independent mining companies produced 4.3m tonnes, up 0.9% m-o-m and up 14.9% y-o-y.

Indian coal output increased to 449.3m tonnes over the first 8 months of the year, up 13.4m tonnes or 3.1% y-o-y. CIL produced 369.5m tonnes, up 11.9m tonnes or 3.3% y-o-y; while SCCL’s output reached 42.2m tonnes, up 2.9m tonnes or 7.4% y-o-y. On the other hand, coal output at independent mines decreased to 35.9m tonnes, down 3.2m tonnes or 8.1% y-o-y.
