Thailand’s power generation declined by 1.7% y-o-y in August

Thailand’s power generation totalled 17TWh in July, down 1.2% m-o-m but still was 1.7% higher y-o-y. Coal-fired generation totalled 3.2TWh, down 2.5% m-o-m but still was 15.9% higher y-o-y. Gas-fired generation declined to 9.8TWh, down 3.8% m-o-m and down 7.4% y-o-y. On the other hand, renewable generation increased to 1.6TWh, up 1.6% m-o-m and up 15.1% y-o-y.

Thailand’s power generation remained steady during the first 7 months of the year at 117.5TWh, up 0.2% y-o-y. Coal-fired generation increased to 21.7TWh, up 1.3% y-o-y; whereas gas-fired generation declined to 70.1TWh, down 7% y-o-y. Renewable generation increased to 11.7TWh, up 22.2% y-o-y.
