Moroccan steam coal imports increased to 770KT in July, up 44.7% m-o-m and up 48% y-o-y. Russian supplies increased 520KT, up 73.7% m-o-m and up 83.3% y-o-y. US deliveries increased to 250KT, up from 170KT delivered in June. The US did not deliver any coal in July 2016.
Morocco imported 4m tonnes over the first 7 months of the year, down 110KT or 2.7% y-o-y. This is due to the decline in South African deliveries, which decreased to 570KT, down 960KT or 62.7% y-o-y. On the other hand, Russian supplies increased to 2.1m tonnes, up 630KT or 41.5% y-o-y. Imports from the US increased to 1.2m tonnes, up from meagre 520KT supplies over the same period last year.
