Israel might exit coal-fired generation in 2025

Israeli Ministry of Energy and Water Resources,  Yuval Steinitz, expressed his support for phasing out coal-fired power generation by 2025. He has requested the Public Utilities Authority to reduce coal-fired generation to zero or at least to an absolute minimum by 2025. The Israeli Electric Corporation is currently operating four coal-fired units, two at Hedera and two at Ashkelon, with totalled capacity of 4,900MW.
