Chinese coal rich province Shanxi shut 836MW of coal power capacity this year as a part of plans to improve efficiency and reduce air pollution. The province will stop operations at coal-fired power plants with installed capacity below 300MW and those that failed to meet emissions standards by the beginning of next year. A total of 7 power plants are on the list be decommissioned.
