Japanese steam coal imports (including anthracite) totalled 10.6m tonnes in July, up 3.6% m-o-m and up 13.6% y-o-y. Australian shipments declined to 7m tonnes, down 8.% m-o-m and down 2.8% y-o-y. On the other hand, Indonesian supplies increased to 1.6m tonnes, up 74.1% m-o-m and up 99.1% y-o-y. Imports from Russian increased to 1.5m tonnes, up 47.3% m-o-m and up 43.9% y-o-y. Shipments from China increased to 140KT, up 119.4% m-o-m and up 136.3% y-o-y.
Japan imported 65.9.7m tonnes over the Jan.- July period, up 4m tonnes or 6.4% y-o-y. Imports from Australia increased to 48.5m tonnes, up 1.4m tonnes or 3% y-o-y. Indonesian supplies increased to 8.3m tonnes, up 1m tonnes or 13.8% y-o-y. Russian deliveries increased to 5.8m tonnes, up 350KT or 6.4% y-o-y. Imports from China increased to 800KT, up 220KT or 38.4% y-o-y.
