Chinese coal production increased by 5% y-o-y in H117

Chinese coal production increased to 308.4m tonnes in June, up 3.5% m-o-m and up 10.6% y-o-y. This includes coal production at China’s largest coal producer Shenhua Energy, which increased to 25.1m tonnes, up 4.1% m-o-m and up 10.6% y-o-y. On the other hand, coal output at the second largest coal producer China Coal Energy declined to 6.2m tonnes, down 7.7% down and down 5.3% y-o-y.

Chinese coal output increased to 1,713m tonnes in H117, up 81.6m tonnes or 5% y-o-y. Coal production at Shenhua increased to 151.7m tonnes, up 12m tonnes or 8.6% y-o-y. On the other hand, China Coal Energy output declined to 38.9m tonnes, down 1.5m tonnes or 3.8% y-o-y.
