South Korean coal-fired generation increased by 4.6% y-o-y in H117

South Korean power generation increased to 42.8TWh in May, up 1.8% m-o-m and up 5.3% y-o-y. Coal-fired generation increased to 18.6TWh, up 3.1% m-o-m and up 2% y-o-y, while gas-fired power generation totalled 7.7TWh, down 4.1% m-o-m but still was 22.6% y-o-y. Renewable generation increased to 2.8TWh in May, up 6.4% m-o-m and up 31.4% y-o-y., while nuclear generation totalled 13.7TWh, up 2.8% m-o-m but still was 1.9% lower y-o-y.

South Korean generation increased to 225.5TWh, up 3.9% y-o-y. Coal- and gas-fired generation increased to 100.9TWh and 46.3TWh respectively, up 4.6% and 24.3% y-o-y. Renewable generation increased to 12.7TWh, up 32.1% y-o-y. On the other hand, nuclear generation decreased to 65.6TWh, down 10.6% y-o-y.
