Turkish steam coal imports increased to 2.3m tonnes in May, up 71.6% m-o-m and up 43.5% y-o-y. Colombian deliveries nearly doubled m-o-m to 1.3m tonnes, up 97.9% m-o-m and up 103% y-o-y. Russian supplies increased to 950KT, up 49.5% m-o-m and up 64.1% y-o-y. On the other hand, imports from South African declined to the lowest level since May 2012 at 30KT, down 24.5% m-o-m and 85.9% y-o-y.
Turkish steam coal imports increased slightly to 11.4m tonnes over the Jan.-May period, up 60KT or 0.6% y-o-y. Imports from Colombia increased to 6.3m tonnes, up 970KT or 18.4% y-o-y. Russian supplies increased by just 60KT to 4.3m tonnes, up 1.3% y-o-y. On the other hand, imports from South Africa declined to 480KT, down 1m tonnes or 68.5% y-o-y.
