Thailand’s steam coal imports declined in May

Thailand’s steam coal imports declined to 1.7m tonnes in May, down 10.1% m-o-m and down 21.3% y-o-y. Imports from Indonesia declined to 1.3m tonnes, down 6.1% m-o-m and down 27.4% y-o-y. On the other hand, imports from Australia increased to 370KT, up 24.5% m-o-m and up 29.7% y-o-y.

Thailand’s steam coal imports declined to 9.1m tonnes over the first 5 months of the year, down 230KT or 2.5% y-o-y. Indonesian deliveries declined to 6.3m tonnes, down 1m tonnes or 14.1% y-o-y; whereas Australian supplies increased marginally to 1.7m tonnes, up 40KT or 2.5% y-o-y.
