Indonesian coal exports declined in April

Indonesian coal exports declined to 26.7m tonnes in April, down 23.9% m-o-m and down 4.3% y-o-y. Persistent rains in East Kalimantan province have slowed down operations at a number of mines and made loading difficult. Indonesian miners missed their production targets in both April and May due to adverse weather conditions. Some miners have declared force majeure and other expect to miss their targets in June. Indonesian shipments declined to 114.1m tonnes over the Jan.-April period, down 1.2m tonnes or 1.1% y-o-y.
