EU crude steel production increased to 14.8m tonnes in May, up 3.2% m-o-m and up 2% y-o-y. This is mostly due to rise in French steel output to the highest level since May 2015 at 1.4m tonnes, up 12.7% m-o-m and up 21.5% y-o-y. On the other hand, German steel production declined to 3.8m tonnes, down 1.1% m-o-m and down 1.4% y-o-y.
EU crude steel output increased to 71.2m tonnes over the first 5 months of the year, up 2.3m tonnes or 3.3% y-o-y. French steel output increased to 6.4m tonnes, up 490KT or 8.3% y-o-y. German production increased to 18.6m tonnes, up 430KT or 2.4% y-o-y.
