German steam coal imports declined by 26.2% y-o-y in April

German steam coal imports declined to the lowest level since May ’15 at 2.3m tonnes in April, down 36.9% m-o-m and down 26.2% y-o-y. Russian deliveries declined to just 1.2m tonnes, down 18.1% m-o-m and down 24.4% y-o-y. Colombian supplies declined to the lowest level since August’14, at 410KT, down 60.2% m-o-m and down 31.1% y-o-y. Imports from the US declined to the lowest level since June 2011 330KT, down 49.5% m-o-m and own 58.2% y-o-y. South African supplies totalled 120KT, down 39.3% m-o-m but still were 202% higher y-o-y.

Germany imported 13.6m tonnes over the Jan.-April period, down 650KT or 4.5% y-o-y. Russia supplied 5.6m tonnes, down 470KT or 7.7% y-o-y. Imports from Colombia declined to 3.2m tonnes over the period, down 310KT or 8.9% y-o-y. Imports from the US also declined to 2.6m tonnes, down 810KT or 24% y-o-y. On the other hand, imports from South Africa increased to 760KT, up 390KT or 106% y-o-y.
