Indian Ministry of Coal has asked the The Railway Board to close tracks in the Jharkhand after fire at the Jharia Coal Mine reached tracks in the Dhanbad-Chandrapura segment, making it unsafe to use. The trains were stopped on 15 June in view that the underground fire caused the ground to become unstable. The Board has suspended coal loading at 9 sidings on the 34 km long segment of the tracks. (Please note that 19 passenger trains have been cancelled and 7 diverted. Coal loading was simply stopped pending assessment of the situation).
