Chinese power output increased to 494.7TWh in May, up 6.7% y-o-y

Chinese total power generation increased to 494.7TWh in May, up 3.8% m-o-m and up 6.7% y-o-y.  Thermal power generation increased to 355.3TWh, up 0.9% m-o-m and up 7.7% y-o-y. Hydro power generation totalled 88.6TWh, up 19.2% m-o-m but still was 4.9% lower y-o-y.

China generated 2420TWh over the first 5 months of the year, up 6.8% y-o-y. Thermal generation increased to 1,832TWh, up 7.3% y-o-y. On the other hand, hydro power generation declined to 358.3TWh, down 4.1% y-o-y.
